a cat imagined as being enclosed in a box with a radioactive source and a poison that will be released when the source (unpredictably) emits radiation, the cat being considered (according to quantum mechanics) to be simultaneously both dead and alive until the box is opened and the cat observed.
It's a concept that can be applied to starting a new choir too. Until recently, Metallikoor existed deep in my imagination. Only by putting it out there in the real world, could we see if the concept would survive.
After just four rehearsals, we now have a steady league of rock stars. The guys are from all walks of life and span over a number of generations. Some of our members are experienced singers whereas some have never sung in public before. One common thread binds it together: Rock music.
It's a friendly and supportive group. Although, I am asking people to step way out of their comfort zones, it feels safe enough to experiment and make mistakes. We feel like a team already. It's starting to sound really good too. with lots of raw power and energy. The guys have already made good progress in four weeks learning new songs and good vocal technique.
We opened the box. The cat is alive. We have a choir.
